How do I set up my Drip Defender device?
Create your account and follow the in-app setup wizard. Connects to WiFi in under 5 minutes.
How do I install the app on my iPhone?
Open app.telemetryinsights.com in Safari, tap Share (⬆), then Add to Home Screen. Requires iOS 16.4+.
How do I install the app on Android?
Open in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu (⋮), then Add to Home Screen or Install App.
Can I use the app on Windows or Mac?
Yes — install via Chrome or Edge. On Mac you can also use Safari (Sonoma 14+).
How do I enable push notifications?
After installing, go to Notifications → Settings and tap Enable Push Notifications.
What WiFi requirements does the device need?
The device requires a 2.4GHz WiFi network. 5GHz is not supported.
How long does the battery last?
Runs indefinitely on USB power. On battery backup, up to 24 hours.
Do I need a subscription to add my device?
Linking your device to your account is free. A subscription is required to manage and monitor it — view live data, configure settings, and receive alerts.
How do I reset my device?
Hold the reset button on the back for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently shipping to the US and Canada. International shipping planned for 2026.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.
How long does shipping take?
Standard 5–7 business days, Expedited 2–3 business days, Overnight next business day. Ships from our US fulfillment center.
How do I track my order?
Find your tracking number in your confirmation email or under Account → Orders. Click the tracking number to open the carrier's tracking page.
What is your return policy?
Hardware may be returned within 30 days of delivery in original condition for a full refund. Contact support to start a return.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Account → Subscription → Cancel. Monitoring continues until the end of your current billing period — you won't be charged again.
What happens if my subscription payment fails?
Stripe retries automatically over 7 days. If all retries fail, your subscription is paused. Update your payment method to reactivate.
How do I update my payment method?
Go to Account → Subscription → Manage to open the Stripe billing portal where you can add or update your payment method.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Contact support immediately with your order number. Changes or cancellations are possible before the shipping label is created.
Where can I download my invoice?
PDF invoices are available in the Stripe billing portal. Go to Account → Subscription → Manage to access your full billing history.
How does AI mode work?
AI mode computes your irrigation threshold from soil science, then adjusts it nightly using a localized weather forecast. No scheduling required.
What is the difference between AI, Threshold, and Manual mode?
AI = automatic soil-science + weather decisions. Threshold = you set a fixed moisture %. Manual = direct on/off solenoid control.
How do I enable AI mode on my device?
Set Soil Type and Application Type in Device Settings → Watering & AI Setup, then tap the AI button on the device detail screen.
What soil type should I choose?
Choose the texture that matches the soil at your sensor depth. Use Auto-detect from GPS to look it up from the USDA soil survey automatically.
What is SUPPRESS, DELAY, NORMAL, BOOST?
These are daily weather modifiers. SUPPRESS skips irrigation when rain is likely. DELAY raises the threshold. BOOST lowers it on hot dry days. NORMAL = no change.
It rained — why did my device still water?
The weather batch runs nightly at 02:00 UTC using the forecast. SUPPRESS prevents irrigation when rain is predicted, not in response to rain that already fell.
What does 'No weather adjustment' mean?
Your device received the NORMAL modifier — no significant rain or extreme heat forecast, so the base threshold is used unchanged.
What is ET₀ / evapotranspiration?
ET₀ measures how much water the atmosphere pulls from soil per day due to heat, sun, wind, and humidity — in mm/day. Higher ET₀ = hotter, drier day.
When does the machine learning model activate?
After 90 days of irrigation event data. Training is automatic; support staff review and activate it. Expect 3–4 months from installation.
What is a Soil Drift Alert?
A drift alert fires when a device's actual irrigation trigger moisture consistently differs from its AI threshold by more than 15% over 10+ events.
